Bookie, Max Phillips, finds out that his son is dying in Vietnam. Feeling he could have been a better father, he returns some money to a punter and gets wounded by a boss's hitman. Reeling from his injuries, he enters an amusement park and meets a young version of his son.

Prizefighting has been abolished. All boxing is now waged by robots. Former heavyweight boxer, Steel Kelly, finds that his robot, "Battling Maxo", is damaged prior to a fight. He decides to disguise himself as a robot and enter the ring in its place.

A jockey has been banned from horse racing for doping horses. Conversing with his alter-ego in his room, he comes to the conclusion that all he ever wanted was to be respected. He wishes he was taller. Soon his wish is granted.

When his wife buys his step-daughter a doll, Erich streator takes an instant dislike to it. After the doll talks back to him and tells him that she dislikes him, he tries to get rid of it.
