There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call "The Twilight Zone".

The Twilight Zone was a science fiction television series which ran for five seasons from 1959 to 1964. Through 156 episodes, the majority of which were written by Rod Serling, the show's executive producer, the viewer was taken into a strange alternate universe where the laws of nature were suspended to depict some sort of moral lesson. The typical protagonist of each episode usually met with some glitch in the normal run of events, where they had to resolve some dilemma which had befallen them. Rod Serling narrated the beginning and ending of each episode.
The show became extremely popular and is still in syndication to this day.
Rod Serling coined the term "Twilight Zone" himself. It was only later that he found the term was also used by the US Air Force.
